ISLANDS OF NATURE is part of a series of quilts based around my interest in human impact on the environment. This piece represents humankind encroaching on the natural world, with a focus on the animal kingdom. Roads, fences, farmlands and urban areas hinder the natural migration of animals. Man-made roadblocks diminish the wildlife’s ability to forage for food and prevent species from maintaining genetic diversity.
